The American founders were obsessed with the Greek and Roman Republics.
The founders held both Caesar and Catiline in deep contempt.
The originalists and textualists know this, and choose to memoryhole that fact.
Or, they are deeply ignorant of history.
The founders’ version of memes and trash talk involved making obscure references to orators, philosophers, senators, consuls, and generals of the ancient republics.
