Coalition Politics

It was a nice country while we had it, y’all.

Remember the good times.

Write down your memories, thoughts, and feelings.

Future historians will use them to reconstruct what happened.

That was literally the premise of A Handmaid’s Tale.

Imagine being such an institutionalist that you openly admit you’re being played by a sociopathic criminal “ally” and you snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by remaining pot-committed to the status quo.

It’s easy if you try, just a little.

Memoryhole

Everyone has memoryholed it now, but in the summer of 2023, hundreds of thousands of Israelis marched in the street to protest Netanyahu.

The American student protests coulda transcended geopolitics, religion, and a bunch of -isms by finding solidarity with Israelis.

But, no.

Couldn’t do the smart thing.

Couldn’t build a global coalition.

Had to do it the way that makes them look like they hate Jewish people.

The only thing worse than a protest movement is a shitty, sloppy, protest movement.
