From a unitarian humanist perspective, “religion” is a part of culture and society.
We eat, breathe, drink, and sleep cults, all day, every day.
Documenting (and codifying) faith for utilitarian reasons is how we identify as a literate people.
The Father of Linguistics did this with the codification of grammar rules for Sanskrit in the 5th century BCE.
The purpose was to organize the Vedas.
